Tour the Medieval fortress of 1283, located in the town of Carini. The castle became famous after being the scene of a murder on December 4, 1563. On this day, Laura Lanza di Trabia, baroness of Carini, was killed--along with her lover--by her father for reasons of honor. Their deeds of death are transcribed in the historical archive of the mother church of Carini. Legend has it that on the anniversary of the crime, an imprint of the bloody hand left by the murdered baroness appears on a wall in the room where Laura was killed. After a tour of the castle, we will have lunch in Sferracavallo, a beautiful town located on the water just outside of Palermo and known for having some of the best seafood restaurants in Sicily. Registration deadline for this trip is Thursday, April 23.
