Head to the ancient city, Solunto, situated near Palermo. It was founded in the 4th century BC by the Carthaginians, who maintained control of the city for over a century, during which time the city became a major maritime hub--rivaling Palermo and Moyta. Solunto later fell into the hands of Dionysius the Elder, tyrant of Syracuse, and was likely destroyed during that period. Registration deadline for this trip is Wednesday, February 18.
