Avola is not only a town famous in Italy for the production of almonds. The Arabs introduced sugarcane to Sicily in 800 AD, which established Avola's production of rum. Visit PAN Park, where there are sugarcane, lemon, and almond fields, carob trees, and a large presence of medicinal herbs near Avola's lake.
