Strap on your skis or snowboard and join Community Recreation for a winter adventure in Garmisch, Germany. You will have the opportunity to stay in a hotel operated by the Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC), Edelweiss; a resort for military and civilian personnel and their families. Garmisch is located in a beautiful natural setting beneath the highest peak in Germany, Zugspitze. This location allows for opportunities to enjoy a variety of winter sports, including alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding and sledding. In addition to the winter activities, you will have the opportunity to take day trip to sites all over Southern Germany, including Munich, Dachau, Linderhoff or Innsbruck through Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC) Travel Program.
Friday, February 13
Depart NAS I CDC parking lot at 4:00 a.m. for the Catania airport. * Note that NAS I is the only departure location. Travel from the Catania Airport to Rome Airport, with a short layover, before connecting to final flight to the Munich Airport. From the airport, be transported by charter bus (2 hours) to Edelweiss Lodge & Resort in Garmisch. After check in, you will have the rest of the evening to yourself.
Saturday, February 14 - Sunday, February 15
You will have two full days to customize this trip based on what you want to experience. Want to hit the slopes and ski, snowboard or go sledding? Edelweiss’ Hausberg Sport Lodge can provide winter rental equipment and/or winter sport instruction for all ages. Want to explore the local culture? Edelweiss Resort offers day trips to Linderhof Palace, Griesbrau Brewery, Neuschwanstein Castle and much more. Got little ones traveling with you? Edelweiss offers a Just For Kids Ski Program or Kids Night Out (for children ages 5-12). Want to sightsee other cities? Use Edelweiss as a home base and take day trip to Munich. Want to kick back and relax? Book a message or spa treatment at the Point Wellness Club. Monday, February 16
After breakfast (included), be transported by charter bus (2 hours) to the Munich Airport. Travel from the Munich Airport to Rome Airport, with a short layover, before connecting to a final flight to the Catania Airport. You will arrive at the Catania Airport at 11:15 p.m. and be transported to NAS I around midnight.
