Tuscany Tour: Thanksgiving 2025

Florence, Siena, Pisa & San Gimignano

Visit one of the most artistically rich and beautiful regions of Italy: Tuscany. Stay in Florence and explore the local architecture, arts, wines and foods by day trips to a few of the most picturesque towns including: Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa and Lucca.

Wednesday, November 26

Depart from NAS I (CDC parking lot) at 4:30 a.m. for the Catania Airport for a 6:00 a.m. flight to Rome. Fly from Rome and arrive in Florence at 10:55 a.m. After landing, you will transfer by bus to Pisa to explore the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa and Miracoli Square on your own with some help from your tour escorts. Depart Pisa and be transported to Hotel Alinari in Florence. There you will check-in and meet with the Community Recreation tour escorts to receive an orientation on the area. Dinner will be on your own.

Thursday, November 27

After breakfast at the hotel (included), we will take a walking tour in the heart of Florence with a local guide. Next, we will stop in the Tuscan countryside for Thanksgiving lunch (included) at the famous Verrazzano Winery (www.verrazzano.com.). In the evening, you will have dinner on your own.

Friday, November 28

After breakfast (included), depart the hotel to visit two beautiful and historically rich locations: San Gimignano and Siena. First will be the town of San Gimignano, where we will explore medieval towers. Second, will be the town of Siena, to tour the splendid Piazza del Campo and the 12th century Cathedral. We will return to Florence for dinner on your own.

Saturday, November 29

After breakfast (included), spend the day on your own exploring Florence. There will be free time to shop the famous Florentine leather shops, daily market and the city’s outstanding museums.

Sunday, November 30

After breakfast (included) and check-out (Time T.B.A. due to road closures for the Florence Marathon), depart the hotel for the city of Lucca. After exploring the ancient city walls and rich renaissance of the area on your own (with some help from your tour escorts), you will depart to the airport for a 7:10 p.m. flight from Florence to Rome. Fly from Rome to Catania Airport with an 11:10 p.m. arrival. Return to NAS I around midnight.
