Summer Reading Kick-off Party

Level Up at Your Library! This year's Summer Reading Program is all about learning to relate to others, think in new ways, and foster friendships through play. Kick-off the season at our party filled with fun games and activities. Our friendly library staff will be on hand to help you get registered for the program and tell you all about this summer's events!

Early Literacy Full STEAM Ahead: Storytime Puzzles
Date: Wednesday, June 25
Time: 10:30-11:15 a.m.
Location: MWR Library
Ages: Children 1-5 and their caregivers
Today at storytime we'll read fun stories about games and puzzles, then create our own customized jigsaws! Come ready to sing, read, and draw.

Scratch Coding a Cartoon
Date: Tuesday, July 1
Time: 3:30-5 p.m.
Location: MWR Library
Ages: Recommended for ages 10-17
Scratch is a free coding program developed to help young students with no computer or coding experience begin to explore the ability to make games and cartoons in an easy and safe environment. Today we will create a simple cartoon where the characters interact, speak, and move. The library will provide laptops for use during the class, or feel free to bring your own.

Wreck-It Ralph

Location: Midtown 2 Theaters

Enjoy this classic animated film that takes viewers on a nostalgic and imaginative journey into the world of arcade video games. Follow the adventures of Ralph and other colorful characters as they learn about friendship and the power of self-discovery, and what it means to be a hero. Free admission, concessions will be available for purchase.

Escape Room at the Library: Adults Only

Visit the library after hours to test your puzzle solving skills in an Escape Room adventure based on notable Italian mysteries. Registration is required for this event, please call the library to reserve your spot.

Ages: Recommended for ages 3-6
Have a sweet time practicing counting and color recognition with multiple Candy Land themed activities, including a life sized version of the classic board game.

Use Rory’s Story Cubes to come up with hilarious story adventures to put on paper and turn into DIY books. The Library will provide all supplies.
