Food Trekking Trip July 4th Weekend

Explore the Nebrodi Park through good food and its gastronomy!

Sinagra (the pearl of the Nebrodi) and Ucria will be the two small towns involved in our culinary journey, both located within the Nebrodi, which are the chain of mountains located between Mt. Etna and the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The villages are famous for their rolling hills and streams that create a beautiful natural environment surrounded by hazelnut and olive groves and forests. This weekend will be dedicated to foot travel and food.  Walking tours will surround cooking classes, beer and liquor tastings, and first-hand tips for Sicilian cooking while enjoying evenings at two rustic Agroturismi.

Saturday, July 3rd   

Depart at 9:00 am from NAS I to drive to Sinagra.  e will arrive at approximately 11:30 am for the check-in and then have lunch in Hotel, after that at 3:00 pm walking tour of Sinagra: ancient churches, lanes, legends, and history. After the tour, you will enjoy a liquor tasting, back in the hotel, and dinner.

Sunday, July 4th     

At 9:00 am enjoy a leisurely breakfast followed by a bread-making class, then an urban walking tour of Ucria with brunch of local delicacies in town, after that you will have a hike along the river, back in the hotel for beer tasting and sunset over the Aeolian island, dinner in the hotel.

Monday, July 5th    

Wake up and make ricotta cheese! After breakfast (included), we will learn to hunt for wild, local vegetables, and for the bravest, there will be a hike through the Bosco Del Corvo. This hike will be divided into two stations: the 1st one will stop around 500 meters of altitude, the 2nd will reach 1,000 meters. From the top of Corves’ Peak enjoy the view from Cefalu to Milazzo and south Mount Etna. Lunch will be at 1:30 pm at black pig agriturismo/farm.

4:00 pm departure to Sigonella; arriving at 6:00 pm.

We need 10 people minimum for this trip to happen.
